With the stable version of iOS 26<\/strong> coming next month, Apple is introducing a new \u201cLive Translation\u201d<\/strong> feature for supported AirPods<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple had previously announced the \u201cLive Translation\u201d<\/strong> feature for FaceTime, phone calls, and messages back in June. It seems Apple has also been secretly developing this feature to work with AirPods<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the iOS 26 Beta 6<\/strong> version, a new gesture was discovered that is triggered by pressing both stems of the AirPods<\/a><\/em><\/strong> at the same time. This action is said to be associated with the \u201cTranslate\u201d<\/strong> application. For now, this feature only works on the AirPods Pro (2nd generation)<\/strong> and AirPods (4th generation)<\/strong> models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple did not announce this feature at WWDC25<\/strong>, but Bloomberg had reported earlier in the year that such a development was in the works. This will be a natural integration of the existing Live Translation and represents a significant development in the wearable<\/a><\/em> technology industry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is not yet clear which iPhone<\/strong> models will be supported, as the translation will not run entirely on the AirPods themselves. It will most likely have the same hardware requirements as Apple’s other Live Translation features. For now, some new rumors suggest that this feature might be exclusive to the iPhone<\/a><\/em> 17<\/strong> series. What do you think about this new feature?
