The \u0160koda Favorit<\/strong>, which debuted in 1987 designed by the Italian design house Bertone<\/strong>, has been reinterpreted as a modern electric car by the Czech manufacturer’s designer, Ljudmil Slavov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0160koda<\/strong> has redesigned its iconic Favorit<\/strong> model as a modern electric vehicle. This contemporary take, which blends the original lines signed by Bertone<\/strong> with the brand’s new “Modern Solid<\/strong>” design language, was the work of \u0160koda<\/strong> designer Ljudmil Slavov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u0160koda Favorit<\/strong> was first introduced in 1987. The iconic model was equipped with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine<\/strong> producing between 53 and 67 hp in its different versions. Besides the hatchback, a station wagon version called the \u0160koda Forman<\/strong> was also produced. The Favorit<\/strong> received various updates over the years and remained in production until 1994 when it was replaced by the Felicia<\/strong> model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One interesting detail about the Favorit<\/strong> is that a 100% electric version<\/strong> was also produced in the early 90s. Developed before the golden age of electric cars, the electric Favorit<\/strong> could reach a speed of 80 km\/h with its lead-acid battery and a 15.4 kW motor. With a range of 80 km, 200 units of this car were produced. Despite having great potential, this concept never went into mass production. Slavov<\/strong> states that when developing the “modern Favorit<\/strong>” project, he explicitly avoided retro elements like those seen in the Renault 5. “My goal was to bring the idea of the original Favorit<\/strong> into the present day, considering the popular SUV trends,” said the designer, also noting that the raised body structure offers a better solution for floor-integrated batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of including the striking “Tech Deck<\/strong>” glossy black front panel of the “Modern Solid<\/strong>” design language, Slavov<\/strong> says he wanted to “evolve and elevate” the already simple character of the Favorit<\/strong>. During the design process, he experimented with different grille and headlight forms and had extensive discussions with his colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the new Favorit<\/strong>, key features include LED daytime running lights<\/strong> designed as a reference to the original model and special covers that hide the main headlights. The illuminated carbon details<\/strong> in the \u0160koda<\/strong> logos are another modern touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While detailed images of the interior have not yet been shared, it is noted that the headrests feature the open-centered design from the original Favorit<\/strong>, and the brown leather upholstery is a nod to the fashion of the 1980s<\/strong>. This contemporary interpretation of the \u0160koda Favorit<\/strong> not only pays homage to the brand’s past but also clearly demonstrates its future design vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
