While the Trump administration announced its digital asset report and fintech presidential executive order, aiming to make the country the “crypto capital of the world,” it quietly made another digital move: a new government domain name, Crypto.gov<\/strong>, was registered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to federal records, the Crypto.gov<\/strong> domain name, registered by a non-federal entity on Wednesday, currently redirects to a page on WhiteHouse.gov<\/strong>. The page features a large visual of President Donald Trump holding Bitcoin<\/strong> and the statement, “Empowering American Leadership in Digital Financial Technology.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The redirected page also includes a PDF<\/strong> of the administration’s 166-page digital asset report, an information brief about it, and links to the financial technology leadership executive order signed by Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his first term as president, Trump<\/a><\/em><\/strong> kept his distance from crypto<\/a><\/em><\/strong> assets, but in his recent election campaign, he fully supported the sector, established close contact with industry leaders, and launched his own memecoin<\/strong>. He also appointed venture capitalist David Sacks as the White House’s Chief Advisor for Artificial Intelligence<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and Crypto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although some of Trump’s crypto<\/strong> policies drew criticism from certain segments of the industry, the president maintained his pro-crypto<\/strong> stance. In line with this, he also signed the stablecoin<\/strong> bill into law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The White House’s information brief stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The growth of digital financial technology in America should not be hindered by restrictive regulations or unnecessary government intervention.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also criticized actors in federal agencies during the Biden administration who “imposed arbitrary and indiscriminate sanctions” on crypto<\/strong> companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Will Crypto.gov Be Used For?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is currently unclear what the future holds for the Crypto.gov<\/strong> address. The White House is known to have no qualms about registering new domain names. However, some domain names registered in the past, such as creators.gov<\/strong> and dei.gov<\/strong>, are still not actively used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
