Held on June 26-27<\/strong> at the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel, the two-day event reinforced Istanbul’s growing influence in blockchain<\/a><\/em> innovation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s event hosted high-level discussions<\/strong> on stablecoins<\/strong>, real-world assets (RWAs)<\/strong>, AI agents<\/strong>, tokenized finance<\/strong>, and regulation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized for the fourth time by EAK Digital<\/strong>, the conference reflected both its scale and ambition, featuring keynotes<\/strong>, workshops<\/strong>, and the launch of new formats<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notable speakers included Mehmet \u00c7am\u0131r<\/strong>, President of OKX TR; Justin Sun<\/strong>, CEO of Tron; John Linden<\/strong>, CEO of Mythical Games; and Marco Dal Lago<\/strong>, VP of Global Expansion at Tether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Linden<\/strong> stated, “The Turkish market<\/strong> is generally becoming a powerhouse in gaming<\/strong>. Really strong companies are emerging here. We have a new FIFA game, and the Turkish market is quite strong for that too. There are mobile gaming fans and a few football fans here. So, it’s a green market<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Industry executives<\/strong> and policymakers<\/strong> shared insights on institutional growth<\/strong> and regulatory changes<\/strong> shaping the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifically, Justin Sun<\/strong> focused on Tron’s stablecoin ecosystem<\/strong>, emphasizing compliance upgrades<\/strong> and real-world use cases<\/strong> across Turkey. Sun pointed to Turkey’s increasing importance as a testing ground for retail adoption<\/strong> and sovereign stablecoin applications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Mehmet \u00c7am\u0131r<\/strong> addressed the regulatory landscape<\/strong>, stating that Turkey has a large retail crypto base<\/strong> of over 14 million users<\/strong>, making compliance<\/strong> and investor protection<\/strong> top priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BlockDown Festival<\/strong> returned with a new format, combining Web3 art and music<\/strong>. This year, in collaboration with Pudgy Penguins<\/strong>, it introduced AI-led performances<\/strong>, showcasing the blend of autonomous agents<\/strong> and live entertainment<\/strong>. Additionally, the event featured new additions like the RWA Builders Summit<\/strong> and DefaiCon Istanbul<\/strong>. These sections highlighted infrastructure advancements<\/strong> in tokenized assets<\/strong> and decentralized finance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Thompson<\/strong> from the Sui Foundation<\/strong> announced a developer bootcamp<\/strong> aiming to train 2,000-4,000 local developers<\/strong> within 12 to 18 months<\/strong>. This step underscores Turkey’s emergence as a talent hub for blockchain development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the record attendance<\/strong> at Istanbul Blockchain Week<\/strong> followed a strong year for global crypto events<\/strong>. In June, at ETHCC in Brussels<\/strong>, Robinhood<\/strong> introduced tokenized US stocks and ETFs in Europe<\/strong>. The launch included 24\/5 trading on Arbitrum<\/strong> and on-chain dividends<\/strong>. Also speaking at ETHCC, Vitalik Buterin<\/strong> warned about architectural risks in Web3<\/strong>, Layer 2 backdoors<\/strong>, and governance token auctions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
