Honda has successfully conducted its first launch and landing test<\/strong> with a 6.3-meter experimental rocket as part of its reusable rocket<\/a><\/em> project<\/strong>. The Honda rocket ascended to a height of 271.4 meters, landing just 37 cm from the target point<\/strong>, allowing for the collection of desired data during the test. The company aims to achieve technology capable of sub-orbital flight by 2029<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honda has taken its space travel dream a step further. The company’s own-developed experimental rocket<\/strong> successfully landed after reaching an altitude of approximately 300 meters. Working on reusable rockets, Honda demonstrated with this test that both the takeoff and landing processes occurred smoothly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This test, performed with Honda’s 6.3-meter-long rocket<\/strong>, was the company’s first to evaluate both the vertical takeoff and vertical landing process<\/strong>. After reaching a height of 271.4 meters, the rocket landed just 37 centimeters from the targeted point<\/strong>. Throughout the test, data on flight stability and landing accuracy<\/strong> was collected. Both the launch and landing processes went smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 1-kilometer radius area was restricted as a safety measure<\/strong>. An automatic safety system<\/strong> was used to ensure the rocket did not deviate from its designated flight corridor. Additional safety distances were determined by considering areas where debris could spread in the event of a potential engine failure or explosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with its space technologies vision<\/strong> announced in 2021, Honda is conducting research on robotic systems<\/strong>, energy solutions<\/strong>, and rocket technologies<\/strong> that can be used in space. While continuing its fundamental research in this field, the company aims to achieve technology capable of sub-orbital flight by 2029<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the successful completion of the test, Honda stated that it will continue its fundamental research related to reusable rocket technologies<\/strong>, and that these efforts could form the infrastructure for various services to be offered in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
