OpenAI<\/strong> has rolled out a new update<\/strong> to its custom GPT feature<\/strong>, allowing for the selection of multiple models<\/strong>. A new feature has been announced that enables the use of models other than GPT-4o<\/strong> in custom GPTs<\/strong>. A default model setting<\/strong> has also been implemented for GPTs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OpenAI<\/strong> has expanded model selection<\/strong> in custom GPTs<\/strong>. Users are no longer limited to GPT-4o<\/strong> and can now choose different models<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OpenAI’s custom GPT feature<\/strong>, launched at the end of 2023<\/strong>, allows users to create personalized chatbots<\/strong> tailored to their needs. It’s possible to add pre-defined instructions, information, and various tasks<\/strong> to these bots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Default Model Setting Activated for GPTs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the new update<\/strong>, not only GPT-4o<\/a><\/em><\/strong> but also different models like GPT-4.5, GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1-mini, o3, o4-mini, and o4-mini-high<\/strong> can now be used in custom GPTs<\/strong>. As model options increase, OpenAI has also added a default setting<\/strong> called “recommended model<\/strong>” to simplify the user experience. This setting ensures that a custom GPT automatically starts with a default model every time it’s opened. If this model isn’t available to the user, the system will use a similar one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, some restrictions<\/strong> apply. If your custom GPT<\/strong> has “action” features such as API calls, web Browse, or code execution<\/strong>, model selection<\/strong> is currently limited. Additionally, these features are presently only available to Pro, Plus, and Team users<\/strong>. Enterprise and educational plan users<\/strong> will need to wait a bit longer. The freedom of model selection<\/strong> makes custom GPTs<\/strong> more flexible, but only time will tell how widely this change will be adopted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
