April brought modest gains to the broader crypto economy, but data reveals a continued downturn in NFT sales<\/strong>, which fell 39.62%<\/strong> over the last 30 days. Ethereum<\/strong> maintained its position as the leading blockchain for NFT trading volume, yet its figures dropped 44.86%<\/strong> month-over-month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NFT Sector Takes Major Hit: Ethereum, Polygon, and Bitcoin Suffer Steep Declines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Throughout April, total NFT sales<\/a><\/em><\/strong> reached $388.77 million<\/strong>, marking a 39.62%<\/strong> decline from March. Statistics from cryptoslam.io show both ends of the market saw sharp drops: buyers<\/strong> down 48.46%<\/strong> and sellers<\/strong> down 39.05%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activity volume also plunged; total NFT transactions decreased by 54.12%<\/strong> month-on-month. Ethereum<\/strong>, Polygon<\/strong>, and Bitcoin<\/a><\/em><\/strong> comprised the top three blockchains by NFT sales volume. Ethereum-based NFT sales totaled $108.19 million<\/strong>, down 44.86%<\/strong> versus the prior 30 days. Polygon<\/strong> ranked second with $73.84 million<\/strong>, a 42.4%<\/strong> drop from March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Bitcoin<\/strong> NFTs slid to $62.45 million<\/strong>, a 27.25%<\/strong> decrease. Flow<\/strong> secured eighth place with $5.94 million<\/strong> in volume\u2014an increase of 14.9%<\/strong> over the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The month\u2019s top-performing collection was Courtyard<\/strong> on Polygon, generating $66.42 million<\/strong> in sales (+20.9%). Polkadot\u2019s Mythos-powered Dmarket<\/strong> claimed second place with $39.72 million<\/strong>, while Ethereum\u2019s Cryptopunks<\/strong> took third at $18.22 million<\/strong> in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The priciest individual sale was Cryptopunk #3100<\/strong>, which fetched $6.04 million<\/strong>. In second place was an Uncategorized Ordinal<\/strong> sold eight days ago for $558,755<\/strong>, and third was a locked gUSDC<\/strong> deposit NFT traded on Arbitrum roughly three weeks ago for about $500,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NFT sector is unrecognizable compared to its peak, and 2025 has yet to deliver much relief from these blows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
