This new system is expected to accelerate the real-world implementation of the <strong>quantum internet<\/strong>. As a step towards a <strong>useful and ultra-secure quantum internet<\/strong>, the researchers created an operating system capable of coordinating <strong>connected quantum computers<\/strong>, regardless of the hardware used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After developing this <strong>operating system<\/strong>, researchers noted that connecting quantum computers became significantly easier. Researchers from <strong>TU Delft<\/strong>, <strong>QuTech<\/strong>, <strong>University of Innsbruck<\/strong>, <strong>INRIA<\/strong>, and <strong>CNRS<\/strong>, all members of the <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/metaverseplanet.net\/blog\/quantum-internet-guide\/\" data-type=\"category\" data-id=\"144\">Quantum Internet<\/a><\/em> Alliance (QIA)<\/strong>, recently announced the creation of the world\u2019s first <strong>quantum network operating system<\/strong>. These teams have long been working on linking <strong>quantum computers<\/strong> through networks to enable <strong>data exchange<\/strong>. One quantum computer was based on <strong>processed diamonds<\/strong>, while the other used <strong>electrically charged atoms<\/strong>. In these tests, they executed a program similar to running a cloud computation from a laptop \u2014 effectively simulating a <strong>delegated quantum computation<\/strong>. Unlike traditional quantum computers that run a single program, quantum network applications require different programs to be executed <strong>independently<\/strong> on different <strong>network nodes<\/strong>, similar to a <strong>client-server<\/strong> setup \u2014 like an app on your phone communicating with a cloud server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The findings confirmed that the new <strong>operating system<\/strong> functions <strong>properly<\/strong> with both types of <strong>quantum hardware<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team now plans to make <strong>QNodeOS<\/strong> accessible to other researchers in order to <strong>accelerate<\/strong> further development of this promising technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-latest-posts__list wp-block-latest-posts\"><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Researchers have developed the first operating system designed for use in quantum networks.
