Instead of casting different actors for characters of various ages, the filmmakers opted to use AI to age and rejuvenate <strong>Hanks<\/strong> and <strong>Wright<\/strong>. This transformation was achieved through a real-time <strong>face-swapping system<\/strong> developed by the visual effects company <strong>Metaphysic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike traditional <strong>aging methods<\/strong>, Metaphysic\u2019s technology performs transformations <strong>in real-time<\/strong> by analyzing the actors\u2019 faces during filming. The production team used two monitors: one displaying the actors\u2019 actual age and another showing the rejuvenated images for the scene. According to Zemeckis, this technology wasn&#8217;t available three years ago and would have been prohibitively expensive to implement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metaphysic\u2019s <strong>AI technology<\/strong> was also used in other upcoming projects, including <strong>&#8220;Furiosa: A Mad Max Story&#8221;<\/strong> and <strong>&#8220;Alien: Romulus&#8221;<\/strong>.
