An agreement has been reached between UNESCO and eight global technology companies, focusing on artificial intelligence. This agreement imposes certain responsibilities on technology companies regarding “ethical artificial intelligence.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Technologies driven by artificial intelligence have sparked debate since their inception. While some argue that these technologies could diminish the workforce, others raise concerns about personal data. In response, regulatory bodies have taken various measures to safeguard humanity from the potential risks of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adding to these efforts, a memorandum of understanding was signed between eight globally operating technology companies and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This agreement has led technology companies to commit to adhering to the ethical framework established by UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These obligations aim to ensure human rights are safeguarded throughout the design, development, and marketing processes of artificial intelligence. Companies will be required to undertake necessary efforts to meet safety standards, identify the negative impacts of artificial intelligence, and take action to prevent, mitigate, or rectify them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Artificial Intelligence Ethics Recommendation” formulated by UNESCO is the world’s first of its kind. Initially introduced in 2021, the agreement has been partially implemented thus far. Still in the process of development, it has been adopted by over 50 countries, with efforts being made to adhere to it as closely as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
