Will there be a second season for the series Alien: Earth, which just had its finale this week? This question, which viewers are curious about, was posed to the series creator, Noah Hawley; Hawley shared his future plans for the show.
The Alien series, Alien: Earth, which met viewers on August 12th, concluded its first eight-episode season yesterday. Although there has been no official statement about a second season yet, the series ending with an open-ended finale brought up the possibility of a Season 2. This possibility was posed to the series creator, Noah Hawley.
Noah Hawley Wants to Continue Alien: Earth
Noah Hawley stated that he deliberately prepared an open ending, and that a second or even a third season of Alien: Earth could be made if it receives enough interest from viewers: “Essentially, this entire project is an experiment to gauge whether enough people on Earth want to watch the Alien series, and thereby see if the cost of a second and third season would be worth it.”
Hawley’s statement signals that a potential Season 2 would tell a bigger story with a higher budget. Of course, Disney first needs to approve Season 2, and so far, no such announcement has been made. However, Hawley says this decision will become clear within the next couple of months.
As the name Alien: Earth implies, the story takes the action to Earth. Set in the year 2120, just two years before the first Alien film, the series begins with a mysterious ship crashing on Earth. A young woman and a group of soldiers who go to check for survivors on the ship come face to face with the biggest threat the planet has ever encountered. While the rescue team tries to survive, in the background, giant corporations enter a power struggle for this “opportunity” that has fallen into their laps.
