WhatsApp Tests New Avatar Feature for Metaverse

WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging application and a part of Meta, is set to introduce the Avatar feature, already present on other Meta platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.

Meta initiated the rollout of 3D Avatars earlier this year, prominently on Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, and now WhatsApp is joining the list.

Based on information from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is planning to release Avatars for a select group of users in its 2.22.23.9 beta version on Android.

Users who gain access to this feature will have the opportunity to create and customize their digital counterparts via the settings menu. This move marks a further integration of Meta’s services, offering a unified avatar experience across its various platforms.

After you upload your avatar to your WhatsApp account, you can start customizing it.

For example, it will be possible to use your own avatar as emoji or sticker.

Of course, you can use these stickers in chats.

With the avatars coming to WhatsApp, all platforms under the umbrella of Meta will now be ready for Horizon Worlds Metaverse.
