Apple CEO Tim Cook: We are working on productive artificial intelligence
Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, highlighted the company’s substantial investments in artificial intelligence, underscoring its crucial role in developing innovative AI-based products.
“The infusion of AI is evident in our latest offerings like iOS 17, where features such as Personal Voice and Live Voicemail leverage artificial intelligence,” Cook remarked. “Moreover, life-saving functions like Fall Detection, Collision Detection, and the ECG feature in our watches are all powered by AI technologies,” he added.

Tim Cook emphasized the impossibility of such technological advancements without artificial intelligence. He conveyed that the company is not only investing in AI but also incorporating generative AI into new product developments.
“Examining our engagement with AI and machine learning reveals their status as foundational technologies, essential to every product we devise. For instance, in recent products like iOS 17, applications such as Personal Voice and Live Voicemail are AI-driven.
Similarly, features that can save lives, such as Fall Detection, Collision Detection, and ECG in our watches, are built upon these fundamental technologies,” Cook stated.
Cook provided further insight into AI-based applications, sharing details about Personal Voice, developed for individuals who, due to various health conditions including ALS, have lost the ability to speak. He described how users record themselves reading text prompts for a duration of fifteen minutes.
This recording is then processed using machine learning technologies, directly on the user’s iPhone, iPad, or Mac, to generate a Personal Voice that resembles their own.
Cook asserted that Apple’s investment in productive AI technologies is guided by a commitment to a responsible approach within this realm, and he envisaged these new technologies becoming increasingly central to Apple’s product development trajectory over time.
