Tesla’s robotaxi has been involved in a traffic accident. The vehicle, moving on a dark road, crashed into a stationary Toyota. There were no fatalities or injuries in the accident. However, the incident has raised some questions.
The electric car manufacturer Tesla, led by billionaire businessman Elon Musk, recently made headlines with a notable development. The company’s robotaxi service, launched in the US, wasn’t working as intended, throwing passengers around inside the vehicle. However, the latest news reveals that the problems with Tesla’s robotaxi service are not limited to these.
A new video published by the YouTube channel “Dirty Tesla” revealed that a Tesla robotaxi was involved in a senseless traffic accident. After dropping off its customer, a robotaxi started to move and crashed into a parked car. There were no fatalities or injuries in the incident, but it’s safe to say that confidence in Tesla’s robotaxi service has been shaken.
Cause of the Accident Undetermined
*Footage of the accident starts at 4:50.
The few-second video shared shows the Tesla robotaxi hitting a stationary Toyota vehicle while moving on a dark street. Although the accident was not major, its cause is still unclear.
Tesla’s autonomous driving system has been involved in various accidents before, but this time, the incident is not as complex as one might expect for an autonomous driving system to be involved in. Tesla’s robotaxi service will be tested for a considerable time yet.
The company appears to be monitoring incidents during the testing period and will develop solutions for them. However, the increasing number of negative experiences day by day will negatively impact consumers’ perception of robotaxis. We’ll see how Tesla overcomes this incident.
