Solana Phone Saga Falls Short of Expected Pre-Orders

Solana’s upcoming mobile release, the Saga, is scheduled for the end of 2022. However, as per a recently disclosed report, the number of pre-orders for the phone currently stands at 2,851.

While the pricing details from Solana have not been officially unveiled, preliminary estimates suggest that the device will likely be on the higher end, potentially around $1,000, attributed to the anticipated costs associated with its features and specifications.

Solana Phone Saga Didn’t Reach The Expected Pre-Order Number

In the previous month, Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, unveiled its intentions to launch Saga, an Android flagship mobile phone designed for Web3 applications.

As per official statements, Solana’s integration with blockchain technology will be a defining feature of the phone, providing users with unique functionalities. The company asserts that Saga will streamline Web3 transactions and facilitate the management of digital assets.

Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, revealed that they are working on establishing a new standard for the Web3 experience on Saga devices. The development and production of the Solana mobile phone are entrusted to OSOM, a prominent Android development company.

The phone boasts notable features, including a 6.67-inch OLED display, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform. Additionally, the handset will incorporate a built-in secure element designed to safeguard private keys and core phrases.

To secure a pre-order for the Solana mobile phone, users are required to make a $100 payment, which is presented as a fully refundable deposit. Pre-order customers will also receive the Saga Pass, an NFT companion linked to their inaugural Saga device.

Considering both its features and cost, industry observers anticipate the phone to be priced at approximately $1,000. The $100 pre-order payment is set to be deducted from the final sale price.
