Sandbox Announces BAYC Themed Metaverse

Sandbox has joined forces with Metaprints to introduce a free-to-play Metaverse experience centered around the beloved Bored Apes from the BAYC NFT collection, who serve as the main characters. The game, titled “Monkeying Around,” is built on blockchain technology and enables players to complete in-game challenges while potentially earning substantial rewards based on their performance.

This Metaverse initiative is currently underway and will continue until mid-October, providing participants with the opportunity to engage in the virtual world and earn rewards.

Sandbox and Metaprints are subsidiaries of Animoca Brands, with Metaprints focusing on being a Metaverse experience builder and Sandbox operating as a Web3 Metaverse platform. Together, these two organizations have collaborated to create a Metaverse gaming experience based on one of the most famous NFT collections, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC).

The Monkeying Around experience was introduced as a showcased project by the teams at Metaprints and Forj. Harry Liu, CEO of Forj and Team Leader at Metaprints, emphasized that this initiative demonstrates the fun and creative experiences that brands can create for their communities within the Metaverse.

The Metaverse experience is a unique adventure game set in a swamp-themed environment, and it is open for anyone to play. It is not necessary to own a BAYC NFT to participate in the event, but additional rewards are available for players who do own BAYC NFTs or Genesis MetaPrint NFTs. Furthermore, Bored Ape owners can use their unique PFP (Profile Picture) in-game.

A total of $30,000 worth of prizes will be awarded during the Sandbox BAYC Metaverse Monkeying Around experience. Winners will be selected based on their completion of in-game challenges and high scores. This initiative was recently launched as part of The Sandbox’s Alpha Season 3, which brought over 90 unique Metaverse experiences to the platform and introduced more than 22 new brands.


Sandbox’s Alpha Season 3 Starts In August!

The Sandbox Metaverse, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, launched Alpha Season 3 last month. This season follows the success of Alpha Season 2, which attracted over 325,000 players. Season 3 was introduced as an enhanced and expanded version compared to previous seasons of The Sandbox.

Alpha Season 3 featured prominent figures and brands such as Snoop Dogg, The Walking Dead, Deadmau5, Sueco, Warner Music Group, Ubisoft’s Rabbids, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), World of Women, The Smurfs, Steve Aoki, Metaprints, Care Bears, and Atari, among others.

Throughout the season, players had the opportunity to participate in competitions and level up, with the chance to win prizes of up to 500 SAND (The Sandbox’s native cryptocurrency).
