Samsung Unveils World’s First Micro RGB Television

Samsung Electronics has officially announced its Micro RGB technology, which is set to open a new era in the ultra-premium television market. The company is debuting the world’s first 115-inch model, which features micro-scale RGB LED backlighting behind a massive screen.

The Micro RGB Era for High-End TVs

This new model uses Samsung’s proprietary Micro RGB technology. In this system, micro-scale red, green, and blue LEDs—each smaller than 100 micrometers—are placed behind the LCD panel, enabling highly precise backlighting control. The Micro RGB AI Engine analyzes video content frame-by-frame to provide real-time color optimization.

The LCD-based panel features 4K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, along with 100% BT.2020 color gamut coverage. The Micro RGB Color Booster Pro enriches colors based on the scene, while the Micro RGB HDR+ engine supports HDR10+ Adaptive and HDR10+ Gaming. Additionally, AI Upscaling Pro upscales low-resolution content to near-4K quality.

On the audio side, the TV has a 70W, 4.2.2-channel speaker system with Dolby Atmos support. It also includes advanced audio technologies like Object Tracking Sound+, Adaptive Sound Pro, Active Voice Amplifier Pro, and Q-Symphony. Support for 360 Audio provides a spatial sound experience for Galaxy Buds users. Glare Free technology minimizes reflections, ensuring a clear picture even in bright light.

Features for Gamers and Smart Living

For gamers, the TV offers a 144Hz variable refresh rate, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, AI Auto Game Mode, Mini Map Zoom, and Super Ultra Wide Game View. With Philips Hue integration, the room lighting can dynamically change to match the scenes on the screen.

Running on Tizen OS, the television will receive major system updates for 7 years. It includes numerous smart features such as Bixby and Google Assistant support, a SmartThings Hub, Karaoke Mode, Art Mode, MultiView, Generative Wallpaper, and Live Translate. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, AirPlay 2, four HDMI 2.0 ports, two USB-A ports, Ethernet, and an optical audio output.

Pricing and Availability

The Samsung Micro RGB TV is priced between the company’s Neo QLED and Micro LED models. The 115-inch version was first launched in South Korea for approximately $32,325, and will soon be available in the US market, followed by a global rollout with different screen sizes. Although the price is very high, it is significantly more affordable than Samsung’s 115-inch Micro LED TVs, which can cost up to $150,000.
