ROKETSAN, a leading Turkish defense company, has introduced a groundbreaking innovation at IDEF 2025 in Istanbul: KOZ. This four-legged unmanned ground vehicle has earned the title of the world’s first rocket-launching robot dog, armed with guided munitions.
Unveiled at the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair, KOZ represents a significant leap in defense technology. This Turkish-engineered robot dog is designed for a range of critical missions.
An Indigenous Robot Dog
Thanks to its advanced engineering, KOZ is not just a striking design; it’s a highly functional system capable of attack, reconnaissance, and special operations. Its capacity to carry four integrated guided munitions significantly enhances its effectiveness on the battlefield. Operators benefit from both autonomous and remote-controlled modes, offering crucial flexibility.
KOZ utilizes ROKETSAN’s Laser Guided Mini Missile System, METE, as its primary munition. This missile boasts a range of 1,000 to 1,250 meters and has previously been deployed on drones, unmanned ground vehicles, and naval vessels. Furthermore, ROKETSAN KOZ stands out for its stable movement capabilities in challenging terrains and offers an impressive 2.5 hours of continuous mission time. It’s important to note that the robot dog itself is also an indigenous Turkish production.
ROKETSAN KOZ Features:
- 4 guided munition capacity
- Up to 2.5 hours of continuous mission time
- Autonomous & remote-controlled modes
- Stable, challenging terrain capability
- Attack, reconnaissance, and special mission support
This development by ROKETSAN solidifies Turkey’s position as an innovator in advanced defense robotics. What do you think about the potential applications of a robot dog with such capabilities?
