Pinterest enables users to receive personalized product recommendations through voice commands with its new AI-powered tool, Pinterest Assistant. It offers a discovery process that is closer to a real shopping experience. Pinterest has introduced a new feature to make it easier to discover clothing, furniture, and aesthetic inspiration through its app: Pinterest Assistant. This AI-powered search and recommendation tool analyzes the user’s past interactions on the platform to deliver personalized results.

Smart Responses to More Open-Ended Searches
According to Pinterest, the Pinterest Assistant is designed not only for those looking for a specific product but also for those “in search of ideas.” For example, typing a general request like “pillows that match my living room decor” is enough for the AI to bring you inspiring results tailored to your taste. To do this, the system examines your saved pins and the boards you’ve created, and by drawing on the preferences of users with similar tastes, it suggests the most suitable visuals for you.
A Realistic Shopping Experience with Voice Search Support
Pinterest specifically highlights the multimodal nature of this new feature. Users can perform a voice search by tapping the microphone icon in the app. The Pinterest Assistant analyzes this voice command, filters through visual content, and presents results that are closer to a real-life shopping experience. This allows users to discover products they might not have noticed otherwise.
A New Step Against AI Content Clutter
Recently, users have been complaining about the increase in AI-generated images on Pinterest and the “difficulty of reaching real products.” To mitigate this problem, the company added AI content labels to the app in recent months and, in October, offered users the option to reduce AI content density. Although the Pinterest Assistant was not developed to solve this problem directly, it can be a practical tool for users who want to focus on real products.
Initially Launching in the US
As of today, Pinterest Assistant is available in its beta version for users aged 18 and over in the US. The feature is planned to be rolled out to wider audiences in the coming weeks.
