Picsart and Getty Images to Jointly Develop a New AI Model

Picsart, a SoftBank-backed photo editing startup, has announced a collaboration with Getty Images to develop a unique artificial intelligence tool. The model will be specifically designed for Picsart’s 150 million users, comprising content creators, marketers, and small businesses.

This new tool will prioritize responsible AI image generation. It will be built from scratch and trained exclusively on Getty Images’ licensed content, ensuring that the generated images are commercially safe and compliant with copyright regulations.

With this partnership, Picsart users will gain the ability to create custom images while retaining full commercial rights. They will also have the option to further edit these images using Picsart’s editing tools. This collaboration promises to provide a novel and ethical approach to AI image generation, empowering users with creative freedom and ownership over their content.

An alternative to the AI debate

Picsart aims to provide its users with a secure artificial intelligence option through a model developed entirely with its own licensed content. This decision is a logical response to recent discussions surrounding the ethical implications of AI-generated content.

The AI model will be developed by PAIR, Picsart’s artificial intelligence lab, and will be accessible through the company’s API. Hovhannes Avoyan, CEO and Founder of Picsart, stated, “Picsart offers endless customization, content, and editing tools for everything from social media ads to website graphics, and this partnership will enable commercially usable AI-generated images from one of the world’s most prestigious commercial libraries. We are thrilled to partner with Getty Images to bring this to market.”

This collaboration signifies a significant step in providing users with a safe and ethical AI tool for generating images that are both creative and compliant with commercial regulations.
