French football club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) has taken its first step to enter the metaverse. The club has filed a trademark application covering NFT -powered multimedia, crypto wallets, managing cryptocurrencies, virtual apparel, sporting goods and electronics.

Trademark Application for Metaverse by Paris Saint-Germain

As NFT and metaverse concepts continued to develop, many institutions and companies accelerated their trademark applications in this field. Finally, the name that applied for the trademark was French football club Paris Saint-Germain.

The statement in question was made on Twitter by licensed metaverse brand attorney Michael Kondoudis:

“Paris Saint-Germain is one of the most well-known football clubs in the world and the value placed on the name and brand of the team is enormous. This filing represents the next logical step to protect the brand as it enters the Metaverse. Clearly, PSG sees the potential of the Metaverse and is preparing its trademark for the virtual economy that will dominate it. This filing follows the trend of other professional sports brands to begin preparations to join Metaverse.”
