OpenAI’s Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati, recently provided insights regarding the public release of Sora, the company’s groundbreaking video creation model, and also revealed that a highly anticipated feature would be incorporated into the model.
OpenAI, a leading name in the realm of artificial intelligence, introduced a revolutionary AI model named “Sora” last month. This model has the capability to generate ultra-realistic videos based on textual commands. The examples shared showcased videos that were impressively realistic.
Initially, Sora was made accessible to a select group, including designers, artists, and filmmakers. While OpenAI indicated that the model would soon be available to the wider public, a specific timeline was not provided. The most definitive update on this matter has now come from Mira Murati, the CTO of OpenAI.
Sora will be available later this year
In a recent interview published by The Wall Street Journal, Mira Murati made significant remarks about Sora. The executive mentioned that the new artificial intelligence model is set to become available to everyone within this year, suggesting that its release could be “in a few months.” However, she stopped short of providing a specific launch date.
It remains unclear whether Sora will be accessible to all users or exclusively to paid subscribers. Yet, considering that services like DALL-E are available through ChatGPT Plus, it’s reasonable to anticipate that the new model might follow a similar approach. Murati also noted that Sora is “very costly,” hinting at the potential for it to be a premium offering.
Voice support will also win
Additionally, Murati addressed a widely speculated question regarding Sora. While the videos produced by Sora were highly realistic, they lacked sound.
OpenAI’s CTO confirmed that this aspect is set to change in the future, as the company plans to introduce voice support for Sora. This enhancement is expected to elevate the already compelling videos to an entirely new dimension of realism and immersion.
