Metaverse Will Perform at the MTV Music Awards

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are set to take place on August 29 at 03:00 in Turkey. This ceremony, a staple since its inception on September 14, 1984, marks MTV’s 37th video awards ceremony. This year’s VMAs at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, will feature hosts LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow.

On August 25, MTV announced a special performance by rap icons Snoop Dogg and Eminem for the event. Their performance of the hit single “From the D 2 The LBC” is anticipated to be the first award show act ever inspired by the Metaverse, showcasing the rappers’ BAYC NFTs.

Eminem and Snoop Dogg, recognized NFT collectors, own BAYC 9055 and BAYC 6723, respectively. Their “From the D 2 The LBC” music video, featuring animated versions of these high-profile NFTs, has been nominated for a VMA award. This use of NFTs demonstrates how intellectual property rights enable NFT owners to utilize their digital assets for commercial or personal endeavors, as seen with BAYC 9055 and BAYC 6723.

Additionally, Eminem recently shared a post featuring a photo of him in the studio with legendary music producer Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

Last year’s video award winner, Lil Nas X, is also set to attend this year’s VMAs. If he secures a win again, he will be the first to clinch the top prize consecutively at the VMAs. Lil Nas X has shown interest in NFT technology and is collaborating with social media giant TikTok.

He is expected to release digital artworks in partnership with TikTok, which previously raised $6 million from NFT sales with Grimes and launched an NFT collection with social media star and musician Bella Poarch.
