Metaverse Madness Continues! Sandbox Hosts Its First Wedding!
Decentralized blockchain-based metaverse The Sandbox held its first hybrid digital and real-life wedding on its Metaverse. The bride and groom, Singaporean couple Joanne Tham , and Clarence Chan, CEO of music company Bandwagon , celebrated their marriage with a “70s disco glam” themed wedding on September 17 at a digital replica of Singapore’s famous Alkaff Estate .
While the couple was physically present at a real-world hotel venue with some guests, their digital avatars were also available in the Sandbox metaverse and could be viewed by guests attending from afar. The event was hosted by Sebastien Borget , co-founder and chief operating officer of The Sandbox, in the form of a digital avatar. After their first virtual kiss as husband and wife, the couple left Metaverse to continue their celebration offline.

The wedding was the result of a collaboration between 1.Group, Smobler Studios and The Sandbox with web3 design agency Smobler Studios to recreate the Alkaff Mansion and its distinctive architecture in The Sandbox. Group 1 manages the real-world mansion.
If you want to watch this event in the sandbox universe in more detail, you can go to the youtube page of the design agency Smobler Studios and witness how this happy moment happened. As a result, such events continue to be one of the indicators that Metaverse formation is valued and promising.
