Meta is preparing to launch artificial intelligence “personas” across its suite of platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, in the coming weeks.
According to the Financial Times, the integration of AI chat assistants into Meta’s platforms is imminent. This addition aims to enhance the user experience by providing opportunities to interact with various AI personas for advice or recommendations, such as travel tips.
Meta has also introduced Llama 2, its latest language model, as an open-source alternative to closed-source competitors like OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Google’s PaLM 2.
The incorporation of the “personas” feature, powered by Meta’s generative AI, is expected to boost user engagement on its platforms, potentially positioning Meta alongside major players such as OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft in the advanced AI competitive arena.
Mark Zuckerberg has stated that a cross-team effort is in progress, focused on developing text-based interactions on Messenger and WhatsApp and creating visual experiences on Instagram.
Emphasizing their dedication to diversity, Meta has equipped these AI assistants with 30 different personalities to accommodate a wide range of user preferences.
