Launched on Kickstarter in early March, Looi has successfully raised $260,000 in donations. Currently, it is available for pre-order in the United States at the remarkably affordable price of $129, with expectations set for deliveries to commence in August, barring any unforeseen issues. Given its features, Looi is poised to become one of the most innovative phone accessories to hit the market.
Described simply, Looi is a desktop robot that, upon connecting your phone, transforms it into a responsive entity capable of interacting with you and assisting in various tasks. It also functions as a wireless charger when you need to focus without interruptions.
One of the key highlights of Looi is its integration with ChatGPT, enabling it to process natural language and imbue your phone with personality. It can provide helpful responses to queries, display a range of emotions through animations—such as happiness or annoyance—and even recognize you and your movements through its camera system.
Looi features ears for auditory interaction, responding to the wake command “Hey Looi.” Additional functionalities include playing games through motion detection, taking photos, displaying notifications, and operating in a desktop clock mode. When activated, its appearance bears a resemblance to the beloved robot from the animated film “WALL-E.”
