La Liga Launches Metaverse Attack With StadioPlus Pass

La Liga, in collaboration with StadioPlus, has formed a partnership with Vegas City Limited to co-develop a project within the Decentraland metaverse.

The metaverse, a virtual environment where users can have experiences akin to those in the physical world, intersects with various sectors including finance, music, and sports.

The Spanish football league, La Liga, plans to establish a themed terrain within Decentraland, utilizing the league’s branding and themes.

La Liga Joins Metaverse

LaLiga has granted StadioPlus the rights to use its intellectual and industrial property for creating a league-themed plot in the Vegas City district within the Decentraland metaverse. This initiative is in collaboration with metaverse developer Vegas City Limited.

The development of a dedicated La Liga area in the Metaverse aims to establish a new hub for both existing fans and newcomers to the league.

Stephen Ibbotson, Head of LaLiga Franchise and License, commented on the multi-party collaboration, saying, “It’s essential for LaLiga to continually innovate in order to deliver the best of the league to our fans, both on and off the field. This licensing agreement will allow us to engage with a new and significant audience in a major hub like Decentraland.”

Jon Fatelevich, CEO and Co-Founder of StadioPlus, emphasized the company’s role as a bridge between the sports industry and the future. He stated, “We are thrilled to have reached this agreement with LaLiga, with whom we have been collaboratively working for months on the development and integration of the competition in Decentraland. We are confident that this will offer a fantastic experience for both football enthusiasts and Web3 fans.”
