Huawei: Insufficient Infrastructure for Metaverse Technology

Huawei has expressed that the current telecom infrastructure is inadequate to support the demands of metaverse technology. The company believes that only networks capable of 5G and 6G technologies can fulfill these requirements.

Abhinav Purohit, a Chief Business and Strategy Consulting Specialist at Huawei for the Middle East region, wrote a three-part article on December 20th, discussing the potential of the metaverse sector and the role of telecom companies in this domain.

In his article, Purohit delved into the essence of the metaverse and the means to actualize it. He defined the metaverse as “a collective virtual shared space, offering physically distant participants the ability to engage in realistic and spatially aware experiences that seamlessly integrate virtual content.”

Furthermore, Purohit noted that the concept of an open metaverse is intimately connected with Web3 activities, with existing economies being powered by digital currencies and NFTs.
