Google’s AI-Powered Video Editing Tool, Vids, is Now Open to Everyone

Google continues to focus on artificial intelligence for video editing. Vids, which was introduced last year, is now open to a much wider user base. Thus, the tools that simplify video creation have been made available to everyone.

Google has now opened its AI-powered video editing tool, Vids, to everyone. This tool, previously accessible only to those with a Google Workspace or AI subscription, can now be tried for free. But a small note: newly released AI features are not available in this version for now.

Google added Vids to its Workspace tools last year. The tool, developed to help users quickly prepare presentation and promotional videos, simplifies storyboard creation with scene suggestions, stock images, and background music. However, not everything is available in the free version; new features like AI avatars or generating video from images are not included in this package for the time being.

Video Production Time is Shortened

With the new update, users can select from 12 pre-made avatars to narrate their written text. It also offers the ability to create short, 8-second videos from a specific image. In personal video recordings added to presentations, artificial intelligence can automatically clean up pauses and filler words like “ummm.”

According to Google, these features will provide great convenience, especially for companies preparing product demos, training, or support videos. The company stated that thanks to this tool, video preparation time will be shortened and it will be possible to produce much more content.
