Google’s AI Podcast Creator Goes Viral: A New Era of Content

Google’s AI podcast creator has gone viral, generating the best content by following user commands.

Google’s experimental AI-first laptop and research assistant, NotebookLM, has also gained popularity due to its Audio Overview feature, which converts a user’s material into a podcast. These new features allow users to easily instruct two AI podcast hosts on the specific topics they want to be discussed. For example, if you upload a large document, you can direct AI Overviews to focus on a single episode rather than an entire podcast series. This is why listening to an AI-generated podcast can be an excellent way to deepen your understanding.

To test the capabilities of this technology, log in, create a new notebook, and upload a PDF. The Audio Overview feature now offers two options: Customize and Create. To focus on a specific topic, click Customize and enter your desired instructions. Google provides suggestions for customization prompts, such as “Focus on a specific resource,” “Focus on a specific topic,” and “Target a specific audience.”

After uploading the PDF to the “Add sources to get started” box, explore the various materials generated by AI. These include FAQs, Study Guides, Table of Contents, Timelines, Briefing Documents, and Audio Overviews. Simply enter a command, and the AI will prepare a tailored podcast.

A crucial aspect of this technology is its ability to follow instructions precisely. It avoids going beyond the given command, ensuring that it focuses on the relevant information. For example, if you upload a large document and want to focus on a specific section, the AI will adhere to your request and ignore irrelevant details.

As a bonus, Google has added a background listening feature to the platform. This allows users to listen to Audio Overviews while continuing to work within NotebookLM. The tool is free and easy to use. Visit the NotebookLM website, sign in to your Google account, and follow the steps outlined above.
