Google Announces Photo Editing with Just Your Voice

Google Photos is set to get new AI-powered photo editing features on the Pixel 10, using natural language commands. Soon, you’ll just need to say, “remove the person in the background,” and the app will handle it.

Google is adding new AI-powered editing features to its Google Photos app with the Pixel 10. Users will now be able to edit their photos using only written or voice commands. For instance, simple phrases like “remove the cars in the background” or “restore this old photo” will automatically apply the desired edits.

Just Ask

The updated editing tool already offers one-tap suggestions and quick editing tools. The new update will enable interaction through natural language, so users won’t have to think about which tools to select. Thanks to Gemini models, personalized edits can be made in seconds. It’s also possible to make multiple requests at once.

Edits are not limited to adjusting light, color, and removing distractions. Users can change a photo’s background or add fun elements like glasses or party hats.

Coming to iOS and Android

Google is also launching C2PA Content Credentials support with the Pixel 10 to increase transparency. This will allow users to see how a photo was created or edited directly within Google Photos. This system, in addition to existing IPTC metadata and SynthID technology, is used to ensure reliability, especially for AI-edited images.

The new features will be launched first for Pixel 10 users in the U.S.. A gradual rollout to Android and iOS devices is planned afterward.
