Gemini Comes to Google TV: AI Recommends Movies Based on Your Descriptions

Google has integrated its AI assistant, Gemini, into Google TV, making the content search and overall TV experience smarter. The company is ushering in an AI-powered era for its Google TV platform.

This significant update was made available on September 22 for specific TV models, such as the TCL QM9K series. The rollout is planned to be gradual, with other devices expected to receive the feature by the end of the year. The functionality will also be extended to other devices like the Google TV Streamer in the future.

With this integration, Gemini is replacing Google Assistant. Users can activate Gemini with the microphone button on their remote or through voice commands. This allows for instant responses to more complex and natural language queries, such as, “List the best sci-fi movies from the last 5 years.”

Through this move, Google aims to enrich the user experience and make Google TV a more competitive platform.
