Augmented reality (AR) technology has recently started to gain popularity with the development of metaverse and virtual reality technologies and the industry actors taking great strides. While companies such as technology giants Apple and Samsung are developing AR and VR products, significant breakthroughs continue to come from the gaming industry.

Finally, game giant Tencent announced that it sees many opportunities to explore the concept of metaverse in 4-5 years. The company will continue these studies under the title of augmented reality.

Tencent, which hosts popular developers such as Epic Games, Riot Games, Miniclip, Discord and Rockstar Games, is frequently on the agenda when it comes to the game industry.

Tencet’s Game Chief Steven Ma , who gave the signals of his vision for the future with his investments in metaverse-oriented projects, said the following about the metaverse:

“We hope to have the opportunity to actively experiment with software, content, systems, SDK tools, hardware and other connectivity in the next 4-5 years and create virtual reality experiences that can be industry benchmarks”
