Flipkart’s New Venture: Purchase Items on Metaverse

Flipkart, the Indian e-commerce giant with backing from Walmart, has initiated a pilot program to provide its customers with a shopping experience within the Metaverse.

The company has introduced its own Metaverse named “Flipverse,” which will enable various brands to offer unique shopping experiences

Flipkart Announces Flipverse!

Flipkart, one of India’s largest e-commerce companies, recently announced its foray into the Metaverse with the introduction of Flipverse. This innovative platform is designed to transform the shopping experience by allowing customers to virtually interact with products through their smartphones, simulating the feeling of being in a physical store.

Integrating elements of gamification, Flipverse aims to enhance customer engagement by introducing loyalty points. Shoppers will have the opportunity to earn tokens from various brands participating in the pilot program. Additionally, users can amass digital collections, adding a unique aspect to their shopping experience.

To bring this vision to life, Flipkart has collaborated with eDAO, a company specializing in Metaverse experiences and based on the Polygon network. This partnership is pivotal in crafting a distinctive virtual shopping environment. Renowned brands like Puma, Noise, Nivea, Lavie, Tokyo Talkies, Campus, VIP, Ajmal Perfumes, and Himalaya are among the early adopters, setting up virtual stands in Flipkart’s Metaverse.

A Flipkart executive commented on this venture, stating, “Our goal is to enable millions of users to explore Flipverse, thus opening the gateway to the future of shopping. Fifteen years ago, we pioneered Web2-based commerce in India. Today, I believe we are at the forefront once again, this time with Web3 commerce.” This statement reflects Flipkart’s commitment to innovation and its role as a trailblazer in the digital commerce space.

Metaverse Will Change Your Shopping Habits!

So far, shopping experiences in the Metaverse have been quite limited. However, a video from 2017, which gained renewed attention this year, demonstrates the potential of making purchases in a hypothetical Walmart-themed Metaverse.

This video showcases a general concept of virtual shopping. Walmart, which holds a 72 percent stake in Flipkart, marked its initial entry into the Metaverse in September by introducing two experiences in the Roblox universe: Walmart Land and Walmart’s Universe of Play.

Focusing on general interactions in the Web3 space, Polygon has been actively forging partnerships with various projects, especially supporting new ventures in the Metaverse.

By aiding organizations in numerous financial projects, Polygon is enhancing these endeavors through its new partnerships. This has contributed to the overall growth and diversification of initiatives within the Metaverse.
