Emirates Launches NFT & Innovates with Metaverse

Emirates, the airline company, has revealed plans to enter the world of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and the Metaverse, introducing new experiences for both its passengers and employees.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Emirates Airline and Group, announced the transformation of the Emirates Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai into an innovation hub, focusing on Metaverse, NFT, and Web3 projects.

In pursuit of a visionary approach supported by applied policies and legal frameworks in areas such as virtual assets, artificial intelligence, and data protection, Emirates aims to make a significant impact on the global economy.

The company intends to collaborate with its business partners in the sector for its Web3 strategy, and it plans to recruit talented professionals for projects in this evolving field.

Emirates has already made strides in virtual reality (VR) technology, launching a VR application on the Oculus store last year.

This application allows users to experience realistic and interactive in-cabin scenarios on the airline’s flagship aircraft, including the A380 and Boeing 777-300ER Gamechanger aircraft.

Within the VR application, users can engage with features such as the in-flight lounge, activate the shower in the shower & spa section, and explore the cockpit interior.

The move into NFTs and the Metaverse reflects Emirates’ commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies for enhanced customer experiences and broader business strategies.
