The popular metaverse project, The Sandbox, announced a donation of 100,000 SAND in support of earthquake victims.
The Sandbox contributed 100,000 SAND, equivalent to 1 million 380 thousand Turkish Liras, to aid earthquake relief efforts in 10 provinces around Kahramanmaraş.
The team revealed via the Sandbox Turkey account that they had established a relief fund on the first day of the earthquake. They have now completed the donation process. The team’s statement included the following:
“We are donating 100,000 SAND to offer essential aid and support to those affected by the earthquakes in 10 provinces of Turkey and northern Syria.”
Since the start of the donation campaigns, the cryptocurrency community has demonstrated remarkable awareness and initiated the collection of millions of dollars in aid. Numerous domestic and international cryptocurrency exchanges have provided both technical and financial support, with substantial donations also coming from individual contributors.
So far, over 70 million Turkish Lira has been raised in the cryptocurrency aid campaign initiated by Haluk Levent and the Ahbap team.
The Metaverse Planet team reached out to The Sandbox Turkey for more details about the donation, but they had not received a response at the time of writing.
