Due to artificial intelligence, the amount of RAM on Android phones will increase
With the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence, the demand for greater memory capacity in smartphones is rising. Phones with 20 GB or more of RAM are expected to enter the market to ensure the effective functioning of AI capabilities.
It appears that one of the most significant trends in smartphones for 2024 will revolve around the integration of artificial intelligence into these devices. Chipsets such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Dimensity 9300, and Exynos 2400 come equipped with robust AI engines.
In fact, there have been reports suggesting that Samsung plans to equip its Galaxy S24 series with advanced artificial intelligence features. However, it is evident that a substantial amount of RAM will be essential to support these AI functionalities on smartphones.
20 GB of RAM required for proper AI experience

As per information shared by Twitter user Revegnus, creating images with AI on a mobile phone currently requires 12 GB of RAM. When you factor in additional AI functions, it’s estimated that around 20 GB of RAM will be necessary for the phone to operate effectively. Considering that today’s standard smartphones typically come with an average of 8 GB of RAM, it’s not challenging to foresee a significant increase in RAM capacity in the future.
In recent months, the OnePlus Ace 24 Pro phone, which features 2 GB of RAM, was introduced. However, in high-end phones, 8 and 12 GB of RAM are commonly used. Therefore, it is expected that in 2024, we will witness the emergence of phones with larger RAM capacities to meet the growing demand for memory due to the increased integration of artificial intelligence into smartphones.
