Dubai Space Center Simulates Mars with Metaverse

The ambition to colonize Mars has been a longstanding goal within the global space industry, and it appears this idea is still very much alive.

Recent reports indicate that the Dubai-based Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) is currently working on a project aimed at simulating life on Mars within the Metaverse.

This initiative reflects the ongoing interest and exploration in both space travel and virtual reality technologies.

Dubai Will Build Mars In Metaverse!

In Dubai, preparations are underway for a Metaverse-based Mars project. The initiative focuses on envisioning what life might be like on Mars.

Enthusiasts of virtual space have announced plans to construct a full-fledged mega-city on Mars by the year 2117. In line with this vision, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) has formed a partnership with BEDU, a Web3 solution provider based in Dubai. The collaboration is centered around realizing the 2117 Metaverse project on Mars.

This project will offer a virtual experience of being in space and setting foot on Mars, as well as simulating the challenges associated with space exploration and the colonization efforts on the Red Planet.

Adnan al Rais, the Mars 2117 program manager at MBRSC, acknowledges the complexity of this undertaking, which will involve exploration through both human and robotic means. MBRSC is setting new objectives and cultivating innovative ideas to fulfill its mission. The Project 2117 Metaverse is viewed as a concept that MBRSC can support, as it represents an avenue for the agency to broaden its reach.

Dubai announced ambitious plans in 2017 to establish a human habitat on Mars within a century. Following this announcement, the space agency reported dispatching a spacecraft to study the Martian environment.

Meanwhile, MBRSC is constructing a mega science city in Dubai to simulate life on Mars. Additionally, the space center plans to land a rover on the Moon later in the year. Experts from MBRSC and BEDU will collaborate closely on the conceptualization, creative development, and visualization aspects of the virtual project.

UAE and Metaverse

As the internet continues to evolve, investment in the technology sector has more than doubled over the past decade.

This field is characterized by rapid changes, with investors closely monitoring these evolving trends. The swift growth of Web3, encompassing blockchain and virtual world technologies, has introduced a new dimension to business operations. There is a noticeable shift from Web2 to Web3, bolstered by governmental interest in the decentralized ecosystem.

Governments worldwide are initiating projects to expand Web3 and enhance the Metaverse, investing billions of dollars in these endeavors.

A recent conference, held as part of the Dubai government’s efforts to attract Web3 and Metaverse companies to the region, underscored this commitment. Additionally, the government has set a goal to create 40,000 virtual world jobs within the next five years.

Dubai possesses a well-established regulatory framework for overseeing the digital economy. The Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) plays a crucial role in drawing industry leaders to the region.

With its ambition to make Dubai the global capital for Web3 and the Metaverse, VARA is actively seeking to attract companies and talents to contribute to this vision.
