In recent years, the rapid advancement of technology has led to significant progress in the field of artificial intelligence, with ongoing developments. Google, a leader in this arena, unveiled the large language model named Gemini in recent months.
With the introduction of Gemini, the company captured the tech world’s attention. It didn’t stop there; Google went on to release Gemini Pro and Gemma language models, thereby heating up the competition in artificial intelligence. More recently, Google has developed the SIMA artificial intelligence model. But what exactly is Google SIMA, and what are its capabilities? Here are all the details…
What is Google SIMA?
Developed by Google DeepMind, Google’s artificial intelligence division, Scalable Instructable Multiworld Agent, or SIMA, is an AI model that plays 3D games in a manner akin to a human player.
According to available information, SIMA possesses 600 skills including movement, stair climbing, map viewing, and menu opening. This AI model has been trained using videos of games played by humans, mimicking real players’ actions, and it is supported by popular games like Valheim, No Man’s Sky, and Goat Simulator 3, collaborating with some game companies.
It’s important to distinguish between SIMA and non-playable characters (NPCs). NPCs are game-specific characters, unique to the game they are part of. For example, an NPC from Valheim cannot be transferred to a different game like Call of Duty.
Conversely, SIMA is designed for cross-game application, aligning with one of the primary goals of the Google DeepMind team—to enable the AI to play any game. The exact timeline for SIMA’s introduction to the public is still unknown. However, SIMA appears poised to provide companionship for those seeking a gaming partner.
