Copilot, Microsoft’s endeavor to integrate AI across the Windows operating system, has seen significant evolution since its inception, positioning itself as a strong competitor to ChatGPT. Despite Microsoft’s efforts to incorporate similar functionalities into Copilot, certain gaps remain evident.
One notable gap was the absence of a feature comparable to ChatGPT’s GPTs, which revolutionized how users could tailor artificial intelligence models to their needs.
For instance, ChatGPT could generate a shopping list from a provided diet plan, among various other applications. Recognizing this, Copilot has introduced the GPT Builder for its Pro subscribers, mirroring the innovative capabilities found in ChatGPT, yet challenges in achieving full parity persist.
Now, the same feature is in Copilot under the name Copilot GPT Builder.
For a $20 price tag, Copilot Pro subscribers have the ability to create, edit, publish, or share their custom Copilot models with others. Sharing a custom Copilot GPT means sending a link to others, who fortunately don’t need to be Copilot Pro subscribers to use the shared model.
However, as a Copilot Pro subscriber, you retain exclusive rights to make any modifications. This ensures that the artificial intelligence model you share remains secure from unauthorized alterations or deletions. Thus, while creating custom Copilot GPTs requires a Copilot Pro subscription, viewing them does not.
Upon opening Copilot, you’ll find an option to “Create a new Copilot GPT” positioned above the standard options. This feature allows you to develop your own custom model tailored to specific needs.
