Chery’s sub-brand iCar will officially unveil its new flagship SUV model, the V27, on August 1st. This model will also be sold in the European market under the “iCaur” brand.
iCar, one of Chery’s sub-brands, had already drawn attention with its electric SUV model, the V23. Now, the launch date for the company’s eagerly anticipated new model, the V27, has been set. A leaked image confirms that the model will be unveiled on August 1st and launched in international markets under the name “iCaur“. The V27 will be iCar’s most ambitious and largest model to date.
iCaur: Chery’s New Brand for European Expansion
iCaur is positioned as Chery’s fourth brand in the European market. Following the previously introduced OMODA, Jaecoo, and Chery brands, iCaur is also planned to debut in Europe by early 2026. The use of the iCaur logo in the teaser image is seen as an opportunity for the brand’s global introduction.
The V27 is expected to come in two different versions: a fully electric (BEV) and an EREV (extended-range electric vehicle). The EREV version is anticipated to use Chery’s 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a battery larger than 30 kWh. This version could offer a pure electric range of approximately 150-200 km, along with a total range exceeding 1,000 km.
The V27 is predicted to share similar motors with the updated V23, which recently appeared in MIIT (China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) documents. These documents showed the V23 having a 185 kW electric motor on the rear axle and a 150 kW motor on the front axle. The V27 is expected to offer performance close to these power levels.
In terms of design, the V27 resembles the more modern-looking T03 model rather than the retro-styled V23. Its strong stance is supported by the “V27” logo on the wide C-pillars, a square-shaped hood, a double-domed structure, traditional door handles, side steps, wide fenders, and thick alloy wheels. The model also features classic-style daytime running lights adopted from the V23. All these details indicate that the V27 will have a design suitable for both urban and challenging off-road conditions.
iCar models are currently sold in some international markets under the Jaecoo name. However, it was previously announced that they would be available in the European and Australian markets under the iCaur brand. With the launch of the V27, this new brand identity will be announced globally.
