ChatGPT for macOS no longer requires a subscription

You can replace Apple’s Spotlight search with ChatGPT for Mac, which can take screenshots, analyze files, and review text with a simple keyboard shortcut.

While Apple may not release Apple Intelligence or integrate ChatGPT with macOS Sequoia until late 2024, users can bring AI to their Macs today. The new ChatGPT app for Mac is now available to all users, not just Plus subscribers.

Users can set the keyboard shortcut CMD + Space to use the ChatGPT feature, replacing Spotlight. The app works only on Macs with M-series processors and macOS Sonoma or later. The Windows version is expected to arrive in late 2024.

ChatGPT for Mac provides simple tools for taking screenshots that can be uploaded directly to a query. The same applies to files, images, or text selected by the user. Conversations with the app are archived and can be searched later. You can download ChatGPT for Mac right now from the OpenAI website.
