The renowned automobile brand BMW has recently submitted a trademark application related to the metaverse and NFTs.
According to brand lawyer Mike Kondoudis, the German automotive giant is planning to utilize its iconic company logo on NFTs, indicating a strategic move into the digital and blockchain-based space.
BMW Follows the Trend
Following the trend set by various brands, BMW, the automotive powerhouse, has submitted a trademark application focused on the metaverse and NFTs. This application encompasses a range of digital content, including downloadable multimedia files featuring artwork, text, audio, and video, as well as computer programs related to toy vehicles, vehicle parts, and accessories.
These digital offerings are designed for use in augmented and virtual reality environments, providing users with the potential to simulate the operation of vehicles using VR tools.
Moreover, BMW has tailored its logo for online store services associated with virtual vehicles, parts, and a variety of accessories. In a previous venture into the digital realm, BMW launched an NFT collection featuring engine roaring sounds at a sound museum on the OpenSea marketplace, utilizing the Polygon blockchain.
BMW’s move mirrors actions by other automotive giants like Hyundai and Ford, who also filed trademark applications related to the metaverse and NFTs earlier this year.
