A new category, “Best Metaverse Performance,” has been introduced at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
This marks the first time such a category has been included in the popular award ceremony, which annually recognizes outstanding music videos.
Among the six renowned artists nominated for this inaugural category are Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber.
Fans will have the opportunity to cast their votes for their favorite performance, with the winner set to be revealed on August 28.

The addition of the new ‘metaverse’ category signifies MTV’s groundbreaking move to honor an artist for their virtual performance for the first time.
