Google has recently unveiled an AI-powered tool called “Project Res-Up,” designed to enhance the quality of low-resolution videos and GIFs. Although still in its experimental phase, this innovation shows promising results, particularly for improving inferior-quality visuals.

Project Res-Up utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze and subsequently enhance image quality. As a testament to its capabilities, Adobe showcased a snippet from the 1947 film “The Red House.” The tool successfully increased the resolution from 480 x 360 to an impressive 1280 x 960, marking a 675% surge in total pixel count.

While Project Res-Up is not yet a full-fledged application or feature, its potential impact is undeniably vast. Imagine transforming grainy, pixelated videos into high-resolution masterpieces! Users can directly upscale low-resolution videos, zoom in, crop, and achieve full resolution with high-fidelity visual details and temporal consistency.
