Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that Apple is forming a brand-new artificial intelligence (AI) team. This team will develop a search experience similar to ChatGPT.
It’s a known fact that Apple has been lagging in the field of AI. The company’s AI features for iPhones are still incomplete, and the new Siri has yet to be released. For this reason, there have been recent reports indicating that Apple has started to increase its moves concerning AI.
Mark Gurman, the most reliable Apple leak source from Bloomberg, reported in yesterday’s Power On newsletter that the company is preparing for a very important move. Accordingly, Apple is forming a team called “Answers and Knowledge.” This team is stated to improve the AI features in Siri, Spotlight, Safari, and more.
ChatGPT-like Search Experience to be Offered
According to information obtained by Gurman from sources close to the matter, the new team will enable Apple to offer a search experience that can rival ChatGPT. It’s even stated that the development of an entirely separate application is being considered. The tool is described as an “answer engine.” Its function will be to scan the web and provide answers to people’s questions. We can say it’s an analogous function to ChatGPT.
We may see this new tool integrated into features like Siri. This way, Siri could also become more like ChatGPT. Apple was originally supposed to launch an AI-powered Siri last year, but it was postponed because it couldn’t reach the desired level. Expectations were for it to arrive with iOS 27. Therefore, it is probable that it will be offered next year along with the newly developed ChatGPT-like tool.
