Another woman abused on Metaverse
The security of the Metaverse universe, which is said to create a revolution while being introduced, is questioned. The avatar created by a 21-year-old female researcher on Metaverse was abused by another user. A female avatar was abused on the platform before.
The end of the research examining the behavior of Metaverse users was disappointing. In the research, he was invited to a private party where he was asked to disable the setting of the safety balloon. After about an hour at the party, one of the female researchers was abused by another male avatar.

“It still has a real impact on users,” Vicky Wyatt, the group’s campaign director, told the BBC. The researcher also noted that when another user touches you, the hand controls vibrate, creating an uncomfortable physical experience.
The report raises concerns that virtual reality may be unsafe for women and marginalized groups. Researchers also reported that they experienced homophobic and racist insults at Horizon Worlds and witnessed gun violence on the platform.
On the other hand, this is not the first sexual assault incident in the Metaverse. In 2021, Nina Jane Patel, a psychotherapist and researcher, reported on Horizon Worlds that she had been sexually assaulted.
Horizon Worlds is currently only available to users in the US and Canada.
