Adidas has made its foray into the metaverse by establishing partnerships with three notable entities in the NFT space: Bored Ape Yacht Club, PUNKS Comic, and gmoney.
Previously, we discussed Nike’s venture into the NFT and metaverse domains and brought to you news of the company’s acquisition of the virtual shoe company RTFKT. However, Nike isn’t the only athletic brand setting its sights on NFTs. Adidas is now diving headfirst into the metaverse through these new NFT collaborations.
Adidas has entered the metaverse realm by joining forces with three significant players in the NFT field: Bored Ape Yacht Club, PUNKS Comic, and gmoney. As part of this initiative, Adidas is rolling out an NFT series called “Into the Metaverse.” This series will enable NFT owners to avail themselves of special product discounts.
According to Adidas, these member-owners will play a crucial role in shaping the types of products and experiences the company will cater to the NFT-owning community.
Adidas is expanding its footprint into the metaverse, which will include virtual wearables and matching physical products for the blockchain-driven gaming universe, The Sandbox, along with other platforms. Furthermore, the brand has procured a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT named Indigo Herz, thus gaining a foothold in one of the most vibrant communities within the NFT ecosystem.
In this venture, NFT purchasers will gain access to both digital and physical Adidas products and experiences. Initially, the physical items are set to encompass sweatpants, a hoodie that features a blockchain address, and an orange beanie.
Adidas plans to retail the NFTs on their website for a price of 0.2 ETH, approximately $800, starting from December 17. For security reasons, Adidas has chosen not to disclose the number of NFTs that will be up for sale.
